How I got started
My business was inspired by my grandfather and my old high school Tech Ed teacher Mr. Tselides (Mr. T). I'm a kinetic learner, so I learn best by using my hands, this lead me to welding. Both my grandfather and Mr. T taught me about welding and the things that I could do with it. My grandfather started teaching me when I was about 15 years old. As I got older I became more and more interested in welding. Eventually welding became my passion. I continued my education in welding by attending CS Monroe Technology Center in Leesburg Virginia for two years, Loudoun county adult education program, and taking welding classes at the NOVA campus in Manassas Virginia. Through that I became certified in both SMAW (aka stick welding) and FCAW (aka flux core welding).
My first welder
My first welding project with my best friend.Me and my best bud decided we wanted something to shoot at and what better than a steel target. We had found some really thick scrap steel and used it to make our first shooting target. If your interested in steel targets contact us.

JB Custom Welding is born!
As I got better at welding I was fixing things for family and then for friends. Then I started welding for things for friends of friends (everyone wants a welder friend). One day while welding up something for a friend a stranger saw me and stopped by and asked if i could weld repair something for him and he offered to pay me. I had no idea what to charge but, i agreed to do the work. The job went fairly smoothly and I got paid, at that point I started to think about making a living with welding. Before long another stranger showed up at my place and asked if i could weld repair for him and then another.
In April of 2016 JB Custom Welding LLC was officially born (recognized by Virginia). From there we started taking on more welding repair work and then custom welding projects. We started making firepits and eventually we started to take the welding show on the road and started doing mobile weld work. I got my first truck from Chris the owner of The Truck Company . I threw my little welder in the back of my truck and my mobile welding service for NOVA was off the ground. Soon after I started doing mobile work I got my first real engine drive welder and bought a bigger truck so I could start doing bigger jobs. I eventually got a bigger truck so i could carry more tools so that i could take on a bigger variety of mobile welding work. We got tee shirts and stickers and the business just kept on slowly getting bigger. From tracking all of our website stats, if you are reading this you are very special because about 1 out of 100 site visitors will actually read this page. If you need welding work done in the northern Virginia area give JB Custom Welding a call and mention that you are the 1 out of 100 and we'll throw in a discount on your project :) |
